Brief Summary from the Thinktank on March 14

What do a young pastor, a long-time parliamentary journalist, a film music composer, a government councilor, a media bishop, and the CEO of a globally active Swiss company have in common?

They were all at the credivo think tank! - credivo stands for Credo, Innovation, and vivo (alive). Our goal: To make the communication of the Christian faith more colorful, relevant, and digital – especially for people seeking contemporary offerings outside of traditional church structures.

Think Tank: How do we reach people outside the church?

On March 14, 2026, almost 50 opinion leaders met for the second credivo think tank, again at the House of the Reformed Church in Zurich. What made it special was the diversity of the participants, who came from the catholic and protestant state churches, free churches, and various professional fields.

Voices and Insights:

  • Priscilla Schwendimann (Pastor): Before we ask "how," we must clarify "why." People are not reached through better programs, but through a changed attitude and honest self-reflection.

  •  Thorsten Dietz (Theologian): He advocates for listening instead of lecturing. Faith becomes visible where we encounter people in everyday life and share real stories instead of spreading abstract doctrines.

  • Josef Stübi (Media Bishop): Relevance arises when we put our own faith experiences into words credibly and understandably.

  •  Thomi Jourdan (Member of the Basel-Landschaft Government Executive Council): He wants to communicate his faith through values and attitude in everyday politics.

  •  Martin Villiger (Composer): He demonstrated at the piano how music evokes emotions and can be a gateway to faith where words alone often carry too much weight.

Easter 2030: A National Media Network Project

Initiator Ben Jakob presented a national media network project as a vision for the future, aiming to communicate the Christian faith in a bold, creative and relevant way over Easter 2030. The goal: to reach people distant from the church in innovative ways, combining personal and media communication. The project aims to involve as many Christians as possible from all denominations as volunteers, starting as early as 2028/29.

This aligns perfectly with the words of Pope Leo XVI:

"We must seek together ways to be a missionary church, building bridges, cultivating dialogue, and always being open to welcoming everyone with open arms."
